Timothy Charles is an award-winning Country Gospel performer from southwestern Pennsylvania who started singing as a soloist in churches during his early teens and by the age of eighteen he was considered a well-established professional; gaining a reputation of being a real crowd-pleaser with obvious passion for singing country gospel music. Coupled with his highly energized stage presence Timothy often amused his audience with warm humorous antics, leaving them wanting “more, more”!   Shortly after graduation he was approached by the Steel City Quartet to fill their lead singer position, and his singing, traveling and recording ministry/career began.

Timothy’s debut performance with the Steel City Quartet was a significant event, because it was at this concert that he met the girl of his dreams and future wife, Tricia. They were married one year later on August 20, 1988.

The Steel City Quartet maintained a steady schedule of concert events and performed in over 1800 churches, city auditoriums, outdoor concerts, benefits, conventions, state and country fairs and made numerous television appearances.  Many of their songs were heard over Christian radio stations throughout the Tri-State areas.  They were awarded the First Annual Favorite Gospel Group by the Keystone West Gospel Music Association.  The response from their fans was overwhelmingly favorable, and they were also presented with the coveted Fan Appreciation Award.  During his eight-year membership of service with the SCQ, Timothy also served as their manager.

In the spring of 1998 Timothy took on the lead singer position of a newly formed Pittsburgh-based southern gospel group, The Three Rivers Gospel. By fall of that same year the group won First Place in the First Annual “Streets of Gold Eastern Quartet Convention” Talent Contest where Timothy sang lead and performed harmony vocals in the groups’ award-winning song, “Ride That Glory Train”.

While Timothy was with the Three Rivers Gospel he and Tricia started a family of their own; with the birth of their son Spencer and three years later a baby daughter Savanna, Timothy was faced with making a difficult decision.  “I felt it was time to prioritize my life, and in order to be the father and husband I wanted and needed to be…I couldn’t dedicate the time necessary in giving my best to both the group and my family.”  Timothy remarked, “Trica and I prayed about it, and I finally came to the conclusion, that I’d always be able to sing again, but my kids won’t always be young.  I didn’t want to be on the road and miss out on their childhood. I wanted to be there for my wife and for my children.”

Timothy is presently the praise/worship leader at the Merritt Primitive Methodist church where he and his family attend.

With the September 2006 release of his CD Single Song “Soon” on Hillcrest # 32 Multi-Artist Disc there leaves little doubt as to what his audiences have already known for years…Timothy Charles is a highly polished and experienced Country Gospel singer…who knows exactly what he’s singing about…and since childhood, Timothy Charles has loved singing…songs with a “special” meaning.  You’ll be hearing more from Timothy Charles…SOON.
